sss 25 -- desire

SET-UP. 1989. Ryker Conall--lead man for a Glam Rock band called Sirenic--is back in Australia and looking all kinds of Bon Jovi hot. Sadie is doing her best to avoid him at all costs, due to heartbreak he caused her five years earlier. But Ryker is persistent and finally catches up with her....

Reference: bangs = fringe in the States, as in hair fringe.

She quivered in his arms, and gazed into his eyes from behind the safety veil of her bangs. Desire yanked at her insides. How easy it would be to meet his mouth with hers, and to melt into his strong hold. She would have, too, had he not swept her hair away from her face. His face creased with a warm smile. It was the same look he’d given her right before saying “see ya later” and disappearing from her life five years ago.

-- Rock You Like A Hurricane, Sirenic #1 with Siren-Bookstrand.(c) JoAnne Kenrick. Tentative release date: 21 September 2011

  1. I'm already hoping that he'll win her forgiveness for just these six sentences!

  2. Like the mention of the same smile as before that says a lot about what her emotions are. Definitely hard to trust again.

  4. Sounds like he's gonna have to work hard before Sadie can begin to forgive his idiocy!

  7. To trust or not to trust, that is the question. I want he to trust him and I want him to deserve that trust. Great job!!

  8. Glad you clarified this takes place in 1989 and they'd met only five years earlier. Last week I'd thought they'd both had many more years and mileage on them! Great snippet!

  15. Oh, so close to connecting, then snatched away by a cocky grin. Love it!

  16. She should repay the favor "see ya later", but I have a gut feeling that a greater connection will flourish. Well done! Great six!

  24. I'm wondering if that same look will bring her to her senses. Good six.
    PS: Isn't language wonderful?
    Bangs = hair
    Bang = having sex
    Bang = the sound a gun makes

  25. Ouch. That hurts. He's got a lot of makin' up to do.

  26. When she can remember so clearly how he smiled the same way just before disappearing for so long, he will have his work cut out for him to earn her trust this time. But with so much chemistry, it's an intriguing situation!
