I'm sat, cozy and warm under a Snuggie. Hocus Pocus is on the TV, and a cup of hot cocoa is in my hands. Soothing away the October chilly air, I'm perfectly happy. And then, just as things get exciting in the movie, and Max lights the candle, there is a knock at my door. I hear giggles and suspect it's just trick or treaters. I forgot to buy candy so I turn down my lights and ignore them.
They knock again, and call out, "Trick or treat. You'd better answer the door or we'll noble your feet".
"Noble my feet?" I call out, not exactly enthused to jump into action.
"Like in Misery....I'm your biggest fan."
Yikes. I don't want that. I put down my cocoa and stride to the door. I unbolt and ease it open. Before I can admire their costumes--bitter while thinking of my hot cocoa going cold--my nose meets wood as someone flings it open with great force.
"Oi!" I stumble backward.
"I know what you did last summer!" One of them hollers. No need to shout, I'm right here, I think. I re-gain my balance then wipe my hair from my face. Glancing up, I get a shock. Holy batman! It's that dude from Scream...with a huge knife in his hand.
"Trick or treat. " His voice is distorted through the mask, gruff and threatening.
"Hey. You're so not funny, Mister!"
"But I bet I'm scaring the--"
I throw my hand toward his chest and push hard, hurtling him back out into the cold.
"No treat for you. You're costume sucks!"
I take a minute to wonder if it was a real knife or not before telling myself it's a definite NOT. I then go back to my movie and snuggle into the warmth of my sofa, sipping on my luke-warm cocoa. Just when I've forgotten all about those annoying trick or treaters, there is another knock at the door....and it's you! How dare you.
If you've come knocking on my door, expecting to get a treat out of me, you'd better have a good halloween costume on. So...whatcha dressed up as? Tell me in the comments below, and use the Rafflecopter to enter! One costume picked at random will win a digital copy of When A Mullo Loves A Woman, digital format of winners choice.

I unfortunately have not dressed up in the last 10 years or so, but if I were to dress up it would be something sexy like a she-devil with fisnet stockings or sexy witch with lacy bustier :)

Like Eva, I haven't dressed up in years. But, if I did, I would dress up in a corset (blood red mind you!), flowing skirt, barefeet, fangs and pasty white face paint. I'd put my hair up in a messy up do and have a skull cameo around my neck. Yep you guessed it! I'd be a sexy vamp!
ReplyDeleteIf I dressed up it would to dress up like Cher, god for her age she is beautiful.

My go-to Halloween costume is a mime. I wear black head to toe, white out my face, add a plastic bowler hat & keep my mouth shut. Easy Peasy.

Um, I'm dressing up, but not for the kiddies. For my DH's eyes only. That's all I'll say. LOL
ReplyDeleteI haven't dressed up for Halloween in over 25 years, but my costume of choice would be PJ's. They're warm, comfy, and I can go right to bed when I get home. <^_^>
ReplyDeleteHaving a blast hopping with you!
Thank you for being part of the hop AND for the chance to win!

I used to have a sexy angel costume, but I'm not dressing up this year. I'm just going to take my kids trick or treating and come home.
ReplyDeleteI really would love to read When a Mullo Loves A Woman. It sounds awesome.
My fingers are crossed,

I was a Vampire Queen last year, but it's just going to be a Halloween appropriate t-shirt this year.

Like most responders, I haven't dressed up in eons and I admit I miss it! Since it's starting to get colder, I would dress warmly. I would put on footsie jammies and carry my Pooh Bear and a blankie and be a little kid. I might put my hair into pigtails to complete the look.
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween!

I have a Juliet costume this year. It's a long green velvet dress with lacy trim around the neck and wrists.
ReplyDeleteIt also has a small velvet cap with trailing lace at the back.
I love the cover for Dracula's Kiss.
