*Opps, this Elvira dress is a little too small for me. Let me just readjust the girls* That's better.
Let's kick it off with the first ever horror book I ever read...which kept me up all night. with nightmares, tsk. I was a teenager! All innocent and the such like. Even the opening scene gives me the willies...still, to this very day.
David Ash is a psychic investigator who is firmly stuck in a skeptic role, believing nearly all “paranormal” activity can be explained away by faults in the house and the such like. Upon beginning his investigations at Edbrook, a supposed haunted house in Surrey, England, he is drawn into a world of doubt.
Over the next three days, and nights, David is subjected to horrors and games that dredge up the nightmarish memories of his childhood. Can he so easily explain away the unexpected goings on with Edbrook as he would normally? Or is there more going on? Something...paranormal?Haunted is chilling and suspenseful. The hairs on the back of my neck stand up on end with this one...Herbert’s descriptive writing paints graphic scenes of Edbrook House and the twisted features and personalities of the extended Mariell family. Haunted was made into a 'not so successful movie' in 1995 staring: Aidan Quinn, Kate Beckinsale, Anthony Andrews.
Haunted gave me a thirst for night sweats and edge-of-my-seat reads. I figured since I was too young to watch The Exorcist, I'd read it instead, and borrowed it from the library.
FRICKEN NORA! Was I too young for this story... demon possession, and crucifixes being rammed into a child's lady parts? I was not ready. Yet I could not stop reading. No nightmares, just simply lots of shock value. however, the movie was mega flat for me. I actually fell asleep! Mind you, it was a special, Halloween midnight showing. I was probably knackered, to be fair.
OPPS. That was the wrong video...or was it? Mwahahaha Darn it. Stupid wig is not supposed to slide to the right like that, surely? Ugh. Wait a sec, I need to go back into wardrobe. I don't know how Cassandra Peterson does this! Kudos, girl!
Is it safe to come out? this is by far my favorite horror movie and book! Here's JoAnne..I mean, here's Johnny...no really, here's Johnny. I ordered pizza and Johnny is the delivery dude's name! And funnily enough, he says the same thing...little pigs, little pigs, let me in.
I've not read this one... but I intend to. I've heard how ghostly it is, and I love the old b&w horror movies...the way they relay on atmosphere instead of guts and gore. They have me on the edge of my seat everytime. Opps. With all this talk of horror, I was so on the edge of my seat that I fell off, not ideal in an Elvira costume. You'll have to excuse me, again, while I squeeze myself back into this darn dress. While I do...
Why don't you enter the CONTEST? I'll be back at the end of the hop, costume fixed and wig on straight, to announce the winner. So be sure to subscribe to my blog so you don't miss out! Now, turn around..no peeking while I get straightened up. Unless you're a hot vampire looking for some supper. And if you are, where the heck have you been all my life?
THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED!
PSSST... I've also done a vampire movie macabre over on Brynna Curry's website in honor of Halloween. You know, if you find yourself getting bored while waiting to hear if you won a spooky story.
Love this blog hop. Am finding so many new authors.

ReplyDeleteWow scary movies are not my thing but I can definitely can say that I do remember watching "The Shining" when I was a kid and for years afterwards my brothers and I would go around popping our heads into doors and saying "Here's Johnny!" LOL But man that was a long time ago.

I def like The Shining the best. I have read his books and watched his movies since I was a little kid (I have always loved scary movies). The only one that freaked me out was IT (I still think clowns are EVIL, lol).
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway. I would prob prefer the movie if I won, although I would much prefer one of your books (SWEET IRISH KISS) if possible.

LOL, JoAnne! Love Elvira, she's a real character - and I agree, the book is way better than Exorcist the film - I laughed so hard, I cried. Just didn't scare me at all. JAWS was scarier, yikes. I slept with the covers up to my neck for YEARS after reading King's Salem's Lot. LOL Happy blog hop!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite scary read is The Shining. I'd like to win The Exorcist.
