She stood, pin cushion in hand, staring out the huge plate glass window. The rain drizzled over passing shoppers who huddled and shared umbrellas with loved ones. She wished she could have someone she could trust, to protect her when life pissed all over her, but she didn’t have anyone like that. The big brick wall she’d built had seen to that.
