sss 22 -- Flashback

She stood, pin cushion in hand, staring out the huge plate glass window. The rain drizzled over passing shoppers who huddled and shared umbrellas with loved ones. She wished she could have someone she could trust, to protect her when life pissed all over her, but she didn’t have anyone like that. The big brick wall she’d built had seen to that.

A flashback of running through a downpour with her

father hit, and hit her hard. He’d thrown his coat over her, sheltering her and leaving himself open to the elements

  7. "She wished she could have that; someone she could trust, to protect her when life pissed all over her." That's fantastic. And the memory of Dad was great, too. Great characterization here.

But I hope it's not the character Colin portrays! Yikes, wasn't expecting that at all - he was perfect in his seduction, then bam! Literally, lol

  19. I loved this. The bit about her father leaving himself open to the elements to protect her; it is the kind of action a parent takes naturally but the child doesn't appreciate or even realise until they have grown. You have managed to convey so much in so few words. Brilliant JoAnne.
p.s - apologies if I have posted this twice, it wouldn't let me the first time for some reason.
