HUGE thanks for all who stopped by my six last week, and for all the wicked feedback. I got a major author-buzz when I read the comments and discovered you were all touched by Rachel's scene from Sweet Irish Kiss link to last weeks six xx Hugs to you all, I only hope you find this weeks six just as entertaining.
DRACULA'S KISS coming this October to Decadent Publishing's 1NS ( 1 NightStand ) series.
Unable to control her wonderment that Bram Stoker might have crossed this very path while writing Dracula, she stalled to savor the moment and placed her hand on the 16th century stone doorframe. Like they do on those late-night paranormal documentaries. Residual energy from her favorite writer didn't mystically hit her, though. Not that she expected it to. Hoped maybe. Instead, salty air from the North Sea filled her nostrils, and overzealous goth music vibrated through the ground and into the soles of her feet. Heavy, aggressive, and forced. -- (c) All rights reserved, JoAnne Kenrick. I really like her too. And an intriguing introduction. I like the 'forced' to end it.
ReplyDeleteWonderful teaser. Love its dark humor. The goth music added a nice touch!
ReplyDeleteI always love the way you put it. The darkness and fulfilling feeling to the story. Great Six!
ReplyDeleteI just submitted a tame vampire story, but I love how you descibe the setting and her motivations.
ReplyDeleteDamn! I gotta HAVE this one! October? Seriously, I have to wait until October? Soooooo, not fair!! *pouts*

ReplyDeleteWonderful set up! Love me some vampires! ;-)
ReplyDeleteClearly things have changed since Bram Stoker passed this way. (I'm assuming the location is Whitby?) Nice setup, especially with the tongue-in-cheek reference to paranormal documentaries.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful description, took me right into the scene.
ReplyDeleteInteresting scene. Dark and moody.
ReplyDeleteGreat setup for something dark and gloomy

ReplyDeleteJo, I love the six. But have you considered perhaps upping the sentence count? Six is like opening a box of donuts, and just getting to smell them. Makes me hungry and I want more.
ReplyDeleteNice! Dracula is one of my favourite books of all time ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat descriptions in there. I love the idea that she was hoping for a little psychic inspiration from Stoker, and got the smell of the sea instead!
