Kali and Kate chat about SEAL THE DEAL on radio show BETWEEN MOONLIT COVERS

I love listening to Kali Willows weekly blogtalk radio show Between Moonlit Covers, and was thrilled when my editor guested on the show. I was listening with a keenness, wondering what they may talk about. Imagine my surprise (and delight) to hear a great shout out for Dracula's Kiss and then a wonderful little discussion about my selkies and SEAL THE DEAL Thrilled. I was so thrilled.

Cathela's Office Halloween Ball is a complete bust. She spills out her Dracula's Bride costume, and her vamp fetish chases away her boyfriend. Only redeeming feature to the night? Necking multiple shots of Dracula's Kiss—a lush Black Cherry Vodka cocktail—and an interlude with a gorgeous man dressed Gary Oldman style.
No one comes close to satisfying Alec Murray's needs until he meets Cathela during some lame-ass party for bankers. One taste of her blood, sweet yet darkly dangerous, he knows she's perfect for him.
A night of goth bondage is planned for one. For the other, a night of sexual control is a must. A perfect fit. Alec is compelled to reveal his true nature, but can their relationship survive his dark secret?

"I loved this book! At one point I found myself holding my breath in anticipation, wishing I was Cathela with my back against Dracula's (Alec) chest and his fangs were giving me that sensual bite." -- Lindsay, United by Books

"Your Panties will be bunching and you will be sitting on the edge of your chair to wait and see what goodies Shaun has packed in his overnight bag ** grins **"-- Kat, Pageflipperz
Ms. Kenrick's writing style flows nicely throughout the story. Her attention stays more on the characters rather than the setting which is fitting for the genre of the novella. I like her ability to dig deep within the characters feelings allowing them to step up and tell their story. It is as if the author really took the back seat on this one. Very well written indeed! JoAnne Kenrick knows how to write unique, if not quirky, characters that stay with me long after I've finished reading their stories." -- Talina, Night Owl Reviews

Hurrah for another corker from Ms. Kenrick!

Looking for a vampire romance across the pond? I've got one for you, and it's set in Scotland...in castle ruins actually, rumored to have inspired Bram Stoker himself. And here's a great review that just came in!
"Hurrah for another corker from Ms. Kenrick! The Gothic theme of this tale really appealed to me from the beginning, and after throwing in a hot male lead, some kink and a promising ending, Dracula’s Kisswas a totally yummy tale. So if you’re looking for some sensual, kinky writing with Gothic overtones, then you should definitely check out this story." - http://eroticaforall.co.uk/?p=5029

Alec Murray, the Scottish vampire with a kiss to die for

Alec Murray, from Dracula's Kiss, is at my blog today...with a kiss to die for! So pucker up!

Dracula's Kiss Recipe:

  1. Coat the bottom of a glass with grenadine.
  2. Add ice and the black cherry vodka
  3. Fill with cola
  4. Garnish with maraschino cherries.

And here is the man himself, well, the man who inspired Alec Murray--it always amazes me how talented folks are in youtube with their music video editing skills. This is one of my favorite tributes to Stuart Townsend's Lestat.

I mean, what would your reaction be if you came across this man during a ball held in castle ruins connected to Bram Stoker's Dracula?
Oh, and he's dressed as Dracula. I guess he might look something like this but with a top hat and those funky-cool glasses.
Would you cease the opportunity? Cathela, the female lead in Dracula's Kiss, is suitably hesitant considering she's already involved. But how long can one resist his beauty? What finally sends her over the edge? What would it take for you to sweep back your hair and invite a Dracula's Kiss, or two?
--------------------------
This is the deleted scene that inspired the whole story of Dracula's Kiss, and the reason why Lestat played a huge roll in creating Alec Murray. QOFTD is a favorite movie of mine. Not for it's plot, yes I get that it's full of holes and the ending made no sense, but the whole 'feel' of the movie, the atmosphere from music and clothes to the cinematography and goth essence throughout. It's one of those movies that invokes all that I love about vampires. It's a shame they deleted this extending flying sequence, because it adds that little bit of extra connection between Lestat and Jessie, and might have made that ending seem less redonkulas.

#sixsunday 31 -- syrup-coated treat from Dracula's Kiss

Dracula's Kiss is apart of the 1NightStand multi-author series, and is available for purchase in most eBook stores.

He slid a cherry over her painted lips and Cathela sucked in a breath. Anticipation nagged at her to lick her lips to seduce this sexy barman, but the monogamist in her begged her to stand back. Her cheeky side won, and she welcomed his flirtation with hopes Nick would see and get jealous. It would serve him right. She smacked her lips around the syrup-coated treat and his fingers. With her tongue, she pulled the prize from his grasp and flicked his fingers away. -- (c) JoAnne Kenrick, Dracula's Kiss.

sss 30 - scream for help

Dracula's Kiss, a halloween special, is apart of the 1NightStand multi-author series. It's available for purchase in most eBook stores. Enjoy.
Right before this six, Cathela has had a little too much to drink--a black cherry vodka cocktail called Dracula's Kiss--and she had gone looking for the rest rooms. Instead, she stumbled upon the castle's dungeons...alone...with candles as her only source of light.

Her candle snuffed out from a breath, and not her own. The chill exhale kissed her neck and skated down her body like an icicle drip. The horror of it sent her hurtling backward. Had it not been for the wall behind her, she would have landed on her butt.
“Who’s there? Bar dude, is that you?” -- (c) JoAnne Kenrick, Dracula's Kiss.

Mwahahahaha. It's darn good to be back in action!!!! And Happy Halloween :) Miss ya SSS!

Weekend Dirty Dozen #1 Drink My Blood from Dracula's Kiss - adult excerpt

Welcome...to the first edition of Weekend Dirty Dozen, where authors gather and post up 12 sentences from either published works or works in progress on their blogs. This is an excellent way to go window shopping for your next read.
And it seems only right, for the first WDD, to share some sentences from my brand new release fresh from the eInk press :) ready for Halloween! We're talking hot Scottish vampires, castle ruins with actual connections to Bram Stoker's Dracula, and spooky gothic-esk halloween fun!

Dracula's Kiss, 1NightStand book #48
VAMPIRE | SCOTTISH | EROTIC
She pivoted to face him and ripped at the dress, revealing two very beautiful breasts with rosy nipples pointing straight at him. She removed a broach from the neckline of her dress. He remembered her wearing it on Halloween; a cheap, costume piece. Once she had folded out the pin, she took it to her cleavage and trailed it along the surface of her skin just above her left breast. She kept going until she had made an inch long scrape, and blood trickled. Red, thick, and acidic in scent. Alec couldn’t take his sight off her offering.

“We’ve both provided healthy blood tests, so let’s do it.” She licked her lips. “I’ve always wanted someone to drink my blood...will you do it? I’ll drink yours, too, if you want me to.”
Alec grabbed her wrist before she had a chance to bring down the point to his skin -- (c) JoAnne Kenrick, Dracula's Kiss.

where books devour you blog hop

Welcome to JoAnne's Book Macabre...apart of the 'Where books devour you" mega author blog hop Halloween Special. *squeezes herself into her Elvira costume* I shall share with you, my favorite of all time, hair raising stories as told by some of the best horror writers out there...Elvira style! But before we begin, I must share with you the blog hop rules.... keep reading for my book macabre, and contest! I'm giving away one of my favorite scares...winners choice!

*Opps, this Elvira dress is a little too small for me. Let me just readjust the girls* That's better.

Let's kick it off with the first ever horror book I ever read...which kept me up all night. with nightmares, tsk. I was a teenager! All innocent and the such like. Even the opening scene gives me the willies...still, to this very day.

James Herbet's Haunted

David Ash is a psychic investigator who is firmly stuck in a skeptic role, believing nearly all “paranormal” activity can be explained away by faults in the house and the such like. Upon beginning his investigations at Edbrook, a supposed haunted house in Surrey, England, he is drawn into a world of doubt.

Over the next three days, and nights, David is subjected to horrors and games that dredge up the nightmarish memories of his childhood. Can he so easily explain away the unexpected goings on with Edbrook as he would normally? Or is there more going on? Something...paranormal?

Haunted is chilling and suspenseful. The hairs on the back of my neck stand up on end with this one...Herbert’s descriptive writing paints graphic scenes of Edbrook House and the twisted features and personalities of the extended Mariell family. Haunted was made into a 'not so successful movie' in 1995 staring: Aidan Quinn, Kate Beckinsale, Anthony Andrews.

Haunted gave me a thirst for night sweats and edge-of-my-seat reads. I figured since I was too young to watch The Exorcist, I'd read it instead, and borrowed it from the library.
FRICKEN NORA! Was I too young for this story... demon possession, and crucifixes being rammed into a child's lady parts? I was not ready. Yet I could not stop reading. No nightmares, just simply lots of shock value. however, the movie was mega flat for me. I actually fell asleep! Mind you, it was a special, Halloween midnight showing. I was probably knackered, to be fair.

OPPS. That was the wrong video...or was it? Mwahahaha Darn it. Stupid wig is not supposed to slide to the right like that, surely? Ugh. Wait a sec, I need to go back into wardrobe. I don't know how Cassandra Peterson does this! Kudos, girl!

Is it safe to come out? this is by far my favorite horror movie and book! Here's JoAnne..I mean, here's Johnny...no really, here's Johnny. I ordered pizza and Johnny is the delivery dude's name! And funnily enough, he says the same thing...little pigs, little pigs, let me in.

I've not read this one... but I intend to. I've heard how ghostly it is, and I love the old b&w horror movies...the way they relay on atmosphere instead of guts and gore. They have me on the edge of my seat everytime. Opps. With all this talk of horror, I was so on the edge of my seat that I fell off, not ideal in an Elvira costume. You'll have to excuse me, again, while I squeeze myself back into this darn dress. While I do...

Why don't you enter the CONTEST? I'll be back at the end of the hop, costume fixed and wig on straight, to announce the winner. So be sure to subscribe to my blog so you don't miss out! Now, turn around..no peeking while I get straightened up. Unless you're a hot vampire looking for some supper. And if you are, where the heck have you been all my life?

THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED!

PSSST... I've also done a vampire movie macabre over on Brynna Curry's website in honor of Halloween. You know, if you find yourself getting bored while waiting to hear if you won a spooky story.

sss 23 -- dracula?

Compelled by curiosity, she peeled back her veil and squinted to study the darkness. A stunning image rewarded her instincts when Dracula stepped from the shadows. Dracula? Had Nick spiked her drink? Top hat, rounded glasses, and dark piercing eyes glared at her. He tipped his hat before curving his mouth into a subtle, sexy smile with pointed canines that glistened in the dark. -- (c) JoAnne Kenrick. All rights reserved. sss23 - savor the moment

HUGE thanks for all who stopped by my six last week, and for all the wicked feedback. I got a major author-buzz when I read the comments and discovered you were all touched by Rachel's scene from Sweet Irish Kiss link to last weeks six xx Hugs to you all, I only hope you find this weeks six just as entertaining.

DRACULA'S KISS coming this October to Decadent Publishing's 1NS ( 1 NightStand ) series.

Unable to control her wonderment that Bram Stoker might have crossed this very path while writing Dracula, she stalled to savor the moment and placed her hand on the 16th century stone doorframe. Like they do on those late-night paranormal documentaries. Residual energy from her favorite writer didn't mystically hit her, though. Not that she expected it to. Hoped maybe. Instead, salty air from the North Sea filled her nostrils, and overzealous goth music vibrated through the ground and into the soles of her feet. Heavy, aggressive, and forced. -- (c) All rights reserved, JoAnne Kenrick. Disclaimer; this a pre-edit snippet and may appear differently in the finished product.

New to Six Sentence Sunday and wondering what the heck this is all about, pop on over to SENTENCE SUNDAY to check it out.
